About QRStudio

Free tools for creators and small businesses

Our mission

QRStudio was built around a simple belief: essential digital tools should be free, private, and accessible to anyone with a browser. We create utilities that require no sign–ups, no uploads, no email collection, and no compromises on what happens to your data. Everything runs locally in your browser — the content you type to generate a QR code never leaves your device.

Whether you are a small–business owner printing menu QR codes for your tables, a teacher sharing classroom Wi‑Fi credentials, a designer producing branded QR codes for a campaign, or a hotel manager replacing a laminated password card — QRStudio aims to be the simplest, fastest, and most respectful tool for the job.

We try to do one thing well: turn what you type into a printable QR code, in a way that works on any device, costs nothing, and asks nothing of you in return.

Who we are

QRStudio is built and operated by DigitalCodexStudio, a small independent studio based in Portugal that ships free, well–crafted web tools. We are not venture–funded; we do not raise rounds; we do not chase user growth as the primary metric. The studio runs lean by design so that we can keep tools free without selling out the people who use them.

Our editorial guides and articles are produced under the byline Marco Vilar, the studio's lead developer–writer, with input from the rest of the team on technical accuracy and worked examples. We publish under a single byline so readers know who to hold accountable for what they read here, and we update articles as the underlying standards (such as the QR code specification or browser support for new APIs) evolve.

QRStudio is our first public tool. More are in development, all built around the same principles: privacy by default, no sign–up to use the basic version, and source–available wherever practical.

Our principles

Local–first. Whatever can run on the user's device should run on the user's device. The QR generator does not call a server to render the code; the rendering library executes in your browser, and the resulting image is constructed locally before you download it.

No data harvesting. We do not store, log, or transmit the content you encode. We do not run server–side analytics on the codes you create. The site uses Google Analytics for aggregate page–view counts and (after AdSense approval) Google AdSense to display ads, both disclosed in the privacy policy.

Static and durable. The QR codes you download are static images that encode their destination directly — no third–party redirector, no tracking pixel, nothing that can be shut off later. The PNG, SVG, or JPG file you save will keep working long after we're gone.

Plain prose, honest claims. We do not exaggerate scan rates, promise impossible features, or pad our blog with AI–generated filler. If something we publish is wrong, we correct it.

How QRStudio is funded

QRStudio is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense). That is the entire business model: a few unobtrusive ad slots fund the hosting, the domain, and the time we spend writing guides and improving the tool. There is no paid tier, no premium upsell, no captured email list, and no resale of your data — because there is no data to resell.

If you do not want to see ads, an ad blocker will work fine and the generator will keep functioning normally. We would rather have you using a tool you love with an ad blocker on, than have you not using the tool at all.
